While surfing around looking for a nice pic of a Dragunov SVU (the bullpup version of the SVD) for another project of mine, I came across this nice photo of a classic SVD that I hadn’t seen before.

While talking about my obsession with submachine guns yesterday, I decided to go looking for pictures of the MP-18/I - the first production Submachine Gun. Unfortunately, there seems to be a dearth of good photos of this classic firearm, besides the great one above. To get a good colour shot, I had to grab one from Guns.ru
Both are /3 models, being that they use the 20 round box magazine originally designed to be used with the gun, instead of the 32-round snail magazine the gun was originally equipped with in World War I.

Originally made in the 60’s by British Royal Small Arms Factory (RSAF) Enfield, the ARWEN-37 fires a proprietary 37mm “less than lethal” round with a variety of payloads (foam or wooden baton, or tear gas). The ARWEN-37 is now owned and manufactured in Canada by Police Ordnance Company Inc.

The Steyr M-series of polymer-framed automatics is another firearm that influenced the designs I’ve drawn for near-future firearms. The strong angle of the grip (111 degrees) along with the look of the grip has a definite “futuristic” look and feel. The more recent M-A1 series (shown below) are a little less sci-fi looking than the originals.

While looking for pictures of my Colt Pcoket25, I came across a few pics of the Llama Mini-Max, a pocket-sized .45 ACP with a double-stacked 10-round magazine. A real little powerhouse.

I went hunting for a nice picture of a .454 Revolver when I came across these two shots of a .44 Raging Bull from Brazilian manufacturer Taurus. This second shot is the one that really caught my eye:

Although it made it into production in the mid-90’s, the OTS-33 looks like a throwback to the classic Colt M1911. A 9mm Makarov handgun in design with an 18 round magazine (27 rounds in the extended magazines), the Pernach is capable of semi-automatic and full automatic fire.

Very nice photo of the Sterling SMG - the replacement for the WWII era mass-produced Sten guns. These were in service from 1953 to 1988 and were replaced by the L85A1 IW (a much larger bullpup assault rifle). With a much smaller magazine and a few superficial modifications, it also made appearances in Star Wars as the Storm Trooper blasters. As a piece of minor trivia, the storm troopers had to use the Sterlings-turned-blasters left-handed because even the short magazine would catch on their armor when used right-handed.

This brutally short AR-15 based rifle takes the Bushmaster Carbon 15 5.56mm Pistol, and adds a classic extending stock to bring it back to rifle usability, but maintains the very short barrel of the C-15. A brutal looking conversion.

Smith & Wesson “Performance Centre” Military & Police .357 8-shot revolver with lots of toys. Too many toys honestly, that sight is a big-ass piece of equipment for what would otherwise be a comfortable carry gun.
