The SA80 Series / L85A2

January 16, 2008 6:02 am

L85A2 5.56mm Bullpup Assault Rifle

This is a very pretty airsoft replica of the L85A2 - the standard frontline rifle of the British Military as well as the armed forces of Jamaica. The A2 variant was produced in 2000 by Heckler & Koch, implementing a series of redesigns and upgrades on the existing stock of 200,000 L85’s in service in the UK. The general opinion of the earlier SA80 series of rifles was low, with a lot of publicity on the weapon’s poor reliability and handling, which is what lead to the redesign by Heckler & Koch. The original design of the L85 / SA80 was done by the Enfield Royal Small Arms Factory, and later production was handled by Royal Ordnance’s Nottingham factory. Venezuela also purchased a number of these rifles for their special forces, but quickly discarded them after experiencing very poor reliability in jungle conditions.

Glock 26 “tacticool”

January 10, 2008 6:23 am

Glock 26 9mm Automatic with all kinds of toys

The Glock 26 is the first of the sub-compact framed Glock automatics, designed for concealed carry. With the very short and thin design, the subcompacts suffer from an uncomfortable grip until paired with a magazine extender. Most modified baseplates offer extended magazine capacity as well as a more comfortable grip and more control over the very small pistol when shooting. This particular photo shows a 26 with extensive accessorization to the front end with a laser and reflex sight as well as a barrel extension. This “tacticool” treatment defeats the basic purpose of the 26 as a small concealable handgun. In all, the accessories on this Glock (magazine and forend) are almost as big as the replica airsoft gun itself.

Micro Uzi (Uzi Pistol)

Micro Uzi

By now I’m sure you’ve noticed my obsession with light submachine guns and machine pistols. This started for me in the 80’s with the Micro Uzi - a sharp little pistol taking the uzi submachine gun action into the smallest possible frame.

SIG SG 552 Commando

SIG SG 552 Commando

Based around the Kalashnikov action, the SG 552 is the most compact of the 550 assault rifles from SIG Arms (now Swiss Arms AG). The 550-series are known for accuracy (although much of that benefit is lost in the very short 552) and dependability (because of the action).

M16, meet AK-47

June 2, 2007 6:41 am

Knight’s Armory SR-47

The Knight’s Armory SR-47 is at heart an AR-15 designed to accept magazines from captured AK-47s. Only 7 were ever produced, six of which saw service but were supposedly retired because the classic “dirty” AK-47 ammo didn’t feed well with the AR-15 direct impingement gas system.

Again, no matter how rare the gun was in reality, there seems to be no shortage of them in the world of airsoft.

You can’t talk glock…

Glock 18 with all the fixins

After the Glock 17 post, I got an email that “you can’t talk Glock without pimping the 18″. This Glock 18 pic is from Catman’s site about customizing an airsoft version of the 1911 from Hitman Contracts, and is a nice piece of work.

The MC-51 Reborn

April 26, 2007 7:52 am

G3-SAS

The actual MC-51 was a specialized short version of the HK-G3 that was only used by the British SAS. Basically an MP-5 chambered in 7.62N, the recoil on it must have been punishing. But that won’t stop the Airsofters, where the MC-51 has been reborn as the “G3 SAS” in a world where guns have no recoil.

Desert Eagle, all dressed up…

Desert Eagle, all dressed up

Desert Eagle… honestly, a gun so mean you’d swear it was made of some strange alien material that makes it supernaturally intimidating. A few of these made an appearance in our recent ‘Punk games, and you just can’t help but think of Matrix Agents when you think Desert Eagle and Cyberpunk.

Oh, did you know you could buy a Desert Eagle Lego Set?
